The Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) recently hosted a comprehensive two-day Career Service and Capacity Building program for staff and students. The event, held at the Faculty of Social Science Lecture Theater on September 24-25, 2024, aimed to equip participants with essential skills for achieving success in their careers.
In his opening remarks, the Vice Chancellor, ably represented by Professor Isa Ibrahim Adamu, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), encouraged participants to maximize the benefits of the program. The initiative was organized by the Career Service Center (CSC), sponsored by TETFUND, and led by Dr. Maryam Jungudo, Director of the Career Service Centre.
Dr. Jungudo highlighted the center’s mission, vision, and objectives, emphasizing its role in providing career counseling and academic development for staff and students. The resource person, Mr. Emmanuel S. Bawa, an experience training facilitator and life coach, delivered insightful sessions on career development theories, assessment, and counseling techniques. He also covered essential topics such as mastering interviews, industry trends, labor analysis, and communication skills for the workplace.
On the second day, Mr. Bawa focused on employability, resume and cover letter writing, LinkedIn optimization, and building a compelling Curriculum Vitae (CV) through volunteering. The program was a resounding success, and participants left with valuable skills and knowledge to enhance their careers.
